The rules for using WhatAreYouBuilding.AI, in the plainest language they fit into.

Last updated 17 September 2026. Questions about any of this go to hello@whatareyoubuilding.ai.

Who runs this

WhatAreYouBuilding.AI is an independent project run by Neta Dror (@netadror) from the Netherlands. It is not affiliated with any of the products it lists.

Using the directory

Browsing, searching and filtering are free, need no account, and are meant to stay that way. The same data is available over a public JSON API and an MCP server with no key. Please don't hammer it. There is no quota on it today, which is exactly why abusing it is the thing most likely to put one there, and we may block traffic that makes the site slower for everyone else.

What belongs to whom

The directory itself — these pages, the guides, the design, the wordmark and the code behind them — is ours, © Neta Dror, and is not yours to republish wholesale. Quote us, link us, argue with us: all fine, and a link back is the normal courtesy. Copying a guide onto another site is not.

The listings are a different matter, and deliberately so. What a builder writes about their product stays theirs, and the catalogue of who is building what is meant to be read and reused — that is the whole point of publishing an API and an MCP server with no key. Use those rather than scraping the pages, credit WhatAreYouBuilding.AI as the source, and do not present the directory as your own.

WhatAreYouBuilding.AI, the name and the whatareyoubuilding.ai domain, are ours too. Don't use either in a way that suggests we run, endorse or verified something we did not — including a badge or a “listed on” mark for a listing that does not exist. The badge is free, it is yours to use while your listing is live, and that is the whole of the permission it carries.

Submitting a product

By submitting a listing you confirm the product is real, that you have the right to list it, and that the text, logo and links you supply may be shown publicly here and served over the API. Everything on a listing is public by design, including any contact address you add to it.

What you write stays yours, and so does the responsibility for it: that it is accurate, that it is lawful where you are and where it will be read, and that it takes nothing that belongs to someone else. If a listing causes a problem for somebody, that is between you and them. We will take it down and we will tell you why, and we are not the ones who made the claim.

You can give an agent a token to list on your behalf. Anything it lists with your token is listed by you and is yours in exactly the way the paragraph above describes — an agent acting for you is not a third party we take it up with. Revoke a token from Your listings the moment you want it to stop.

Nothing is published automatically on arrival. Every submission is read before it appears, first by an automated screen and then, where that screen is not confident, by a person. We may decline anything, and we may take down a listing that turns out to be inaccurate, misleading, or not yours to submit.

A listing needs a working address of its own. A link to a shared document — a Drive file, a Google Doc, a Dropbox or Notion page — is not a website, and neither is the free subdomain a hosting platform hands you on deploy. Both are declined at the form. An app store page is fine. A code repository is fine only where the product IS the open source code, and even then a page of its own will serve you better. Listings that predate this rule may be asked to update their link, and may be removed if they are not updated.

Declining a submission deletes it. There is no rejected state to appeal from, so if your listing disappeared and you think that was a mistake, send it again or email us.

Claiming and editing

Claiming a listing is turned off for now, so no listing can change hands here. If a listing is yours and you want it corrected, taken down or handed to you, email us.

Some listings were claimed while claiming was open, and they say so. A claim means the listing is that person's to edit and delete. It does not mean we checked that they are who they say they are, and it does not set the verified flag, which only an administrator can set.

Editing anything a person typed puts the listing back in the review queue until it has been read again. That is not a punishment, it is the only thing stopping an approved listing from being quietly rewritten into something else.

You can delete your own listing at any time from Your listings. Deleting is permanent.

Sponsorship

Sponsor slots are a monthly subscription, taken through Stripe, and you can cancel whenever you like. A cancelled slot runs to the end of the period you have paid for. We can decline or end a sponsorship, and we refund the unused part of the period when we are the ones ending it.

Ranking is not for sale today. The board ranks by engagement on this site, and if that ever changes, the page will say so in the place the ranking is shown.

What we don't promise

This is a directory, and only a directory. We do not build, sell, host, support or vet any of the products listed here, and we are not part of what happens between you and one of them. A listing is somebody telling us about their product; the page you land on when you click is theirs, not ours.

Listings are supplied by the people who submit them. We read them for abuse and for obvious nonsense, not for accuracy: funding stage, revenue and traction are claims made by builders, not facts we have verified. Outbound links are not endorsements, and we are not responsible for what is on the other end of one.

We screen every submission for abuse, spam and the obvious scams, and we take down what we get wrong as soon as we know. That is our best effort and not a guarantee: a listing passing review means nobody spotted a problem, not that there is none. Judge a product for yourself before you give it money, data or access, and tell us if something here looks wrong. We would rather hear it from you than not.

The site is offered as it is. We try to keep it up and correct, and we cannot promise either. Nothing here is investment advice.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of the Netherlands, and a dispute we cannot settle by email goes to the courts there. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection your own country's law gives you.

Changes

These terms will change as the product does. The date at the top is the last time they did. Continuing to use the site after a change means the new version applies.
